CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas woman told police she was driving her car on the waterfront near Strand Gade when someone fired shots that hit her in her vehicle early Sunday night, authorities said.
Police officers were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim about 6:53 p.m. Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
The victim reported she heard shots being fired as she traveled eastward in her vehicle on Veteran’s Drive near the Burger MAXX restaurant, according to the VIPD.
“The victim stated she did not see who fired the shots, but heard what sounded like a vehicle speed away from the area,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Immediately following, the victim observed she was injured by a gunshot and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.”
The woman was listed in stable condition by the St. Thomas hospital, police said.
