Reconstruction Work On Carlton Road Set To Begin On Tuesday, DPW Says

FREDERIKSTED — Work is set to begin on Route 667 in Estate Carlton beginning on Tuesday, the Department of Public Works said.

DPW is advising the community that “major road reconstruction” will begin on Carlton Road on November 24.

“Work is estimated to be completed in 90 business days,” DPW spokeswoman Renee Exius said. “During this time, the roadway will be closed to all through traffic and accessible for residents only.”

The scope of work includes completion of surface and base course paving, paved waterways, culvert pipe crossings, inlets, tree removal, striping and other miscellaneous work, Exius said.

“Motorists are urged to avoid this area while construction is in progress,” she said. “The department is asking the public to adhere to all traffic controls, personnel and construction signs.”

Alternate routes include Routes 63 (Good Hope Road), 701 (Campo Whim Road) and 665 (Williams Delight Road).

The total estimated cost of the project is $2,830,000.
