St. Thomas Woman In Critical Condition After Being Savagely Beaten And Raped In Sub Base Sunday

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas woman who was savagely beaten and raped downtown remains in critical condition due to the injuries she sustained early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Sub Base in reference to an unresponsive female lying in the roadway at 6:19 a.m. Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Officers traveled to the area and found an adult, Hispanic female, who was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) for treatment, according to the VIPD.

“The investigation revealed the victim was assaulted and raped,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The victim was listed in critical condition, due to the severity of the assault.”

This case is currently under active investigation.
