Body of Missing British Virgin Islands Woman Recovered Near Scene of Boating Accident

ROAD TOWN, Tortola — A search of the Caribbean Sea around the British and U.S. Virgin Islands waters ended Tuesday afternoon after the body of a missing woman was recovered at sea, a BVI official said.

Kristal “Krissy” Black, 30, was one of 10 people on a boat when it capsized in BVI waters at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Friends of Black posted on Facebook that she was missing since the accident that took place between West Frenchman’s Cay and Great Thatch.

His reporting steel was tempered by a lineage of legendary editors and broadcasters, including Ed Wynn Brant (The Bomb), Owen Eschenroder (Ann Arbor News), Lynelle Emanuel (BVI Beacon), and Charles Thanas (WSVI-TV). Alongside longtime colleague Kenneth C. "Casey" Clark, McCarthy has navigated the front lines of the territory’s history—from the 1997 volcanic "snow" to every major hurricane since Hugo. Known for leaning out of doorless helicopters to capture the "money shot," McCarthy now edits the V.I. Free Press, providing the essential link between the island's colonial past and its SpaceX future.
