FREDERIKSTED — Police say they are investigating an armed robbery of a woman at St. Croix Mutual Homes on Thursday night.

The woman said that the robbery took place before 9 p.m. when she called the 911 Emergency Call Center to report the incident.

The victim said that she was walking on the Queen Mary Highway to her apartment at St. Croix Mutual Homes when a man wearing a mask approached her.

The man wearing the mask over his head demanded that the woman turn over her handbag and was pointing a knife at her when he said it.

A waiting gray SUV immediately drove up after the robbery, and the suspect jumped into the vehicle as it sped away in a northerly direction towards Estate Grove Place.

The woman told police that she was not injured in the incident, but that her handbag contained cash, documents and other personal items.

She also told police that it was too dark to identify the make and model of the SUV and who the robber was.
