ROAD TOWN, Tortola — A minor earthquake took place about 24 miles off the coast of the British Virgin Islands on Sunday afternoon.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said it took place about 5:39 p.m. Sunday, registered 3.5 on the Richter Scale and was about 60 miles underground.
It was one of nine minor earthquakes that took place in and around the BVI, St. Thomas, Tortola and Puerto Rico yesterday, according to the USGS.
