CHRISTIANSTED — A man was found shot to death near the Water Gut section of St. Croix early Saturday morning, according to police sources.

Alex Gonzalez, 24, was seen lying dead in the parking lot of the Ruby M. Rouss Apartments with multiple gunshot wounds about 12:10 a.m.

Residents called the 911 Emergency Call Center to say that multiple shots had been discharged in the area.

But by the time emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, the only thing EMTs could do was pronounce Gonzalez dead.

Gonzalez’s murder is the seventh fatal shooting in the territory so far in 2018.
