VIPD: St. Thomas’ Arthur Greaves Accused Of Snatching Gold Chain From Man At Gunpoint

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man who allegedly robbed a male victim at gunpoint on Commandant Gade Thursday morning was arrested by police shortly afterwards.

Arthur Greaves, 19, was arrested by the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) at 2 p.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, grand larceny, possession of an unlicensed firearm within a school zone and possession of stolen property.

The man who was robbed contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center at 11:30 a.m. Thursday to report that he had been assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in the Commandant Gade area. He told police that the suspect stole his gold chain before fleeing the area on foot.

Police arriving on the scene noticed the suspect nearby and took him into custody. A search of the Commandant Gade area revealed a firearm that the suspect allegedly used during the robbery.

The officers said they found the robbed man’s gold chain in Greaves’ pocket when they took him into custody.
