VIPD: St. Croix Man Says He Was Shot at Bienvenidos Mini Mart Near Times Square

CHRISTIANSTED — Police said a St. Croix man was shot more than once in the gut near Times Square in downtown Christiansted on Thursday night.

On June 28, 2018 at about 9:21 p.m., a male gunshot wound victim was dropped off by private vehicle to the Juan Luis Hospital, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

“The victim had sustained gunshot wounds to the mid-section of the body,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said. “Upon officer’s arrival at the hospital they interviewed the victim who stated he was at the Bienvenidos Mini Mart in Christiansted, when someone tried to rob him and subsequently shot him, and someone gave him a ride to the hospital where he remains in stable but guarded condition.”

Police said that they have no suspects at this point.
