VIPD: St. Thomas Man Shot Near Hospital Ground Monday Night, Dies This Morning

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — An unidentified St. Thomas man shot once near Hospital Ground Monday night died from his injuries this morning, authorities said.

On Monday, June 25, 2018, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Central Dispatch received a call of multiple shots fired in the Hospital Ground area, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said.

Units from the Richard N. Callwood Command, along with units from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, traveled to Hospital Ground and discovered a black male on the ground in the area of “Glass Battle Alley.”

The male appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to his body; he was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance where he was taken into surgery, according to the VIPD.

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at approximately 5:05 a.m. the male victim succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identification is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
