Anguilla Landfill on Fire Again on St. Croix Today, Waste Management Authority Says

FREDERIKSTED — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) said that an active fire was reported at the Anguilla Landfill at 3:30 a.m. today.

The Virgin Islands Fire Service and VIWMA contractors have worked to bring the fire under control and will continue to monitor the situation.

The VIWMA said that it will provide updates on any changes that may affect the public and haulers from utilizing the Solid Waste Facility.

The Authority will also continue to provide updates regarding changes that may affect public health and the environment.

“The VIWMA Preserving Paradise team apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation,” the Authority said.
