CRUCIAN CONFUSION: CHS DOESN’T Go On Lockdown After Student Gun Detected

MID-ISLAND ST. CROIX — A high school student who attacked a teacher on Thursday was found to have a loaded handgun in his bag, authorities said.

On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at approximately 2:05 p.m., 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of a possession of an unlicensed firearm that was found on a student at the St. Croix Central High School in Estate Kingshill.

When police arrived they contacted the school monitors who told the officers that the student had assaulted a teacher and upon further discovery a loaded handgun and narcotics was found in the student’s book bag including over $300.00 in us currency, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The minor suspect (student) was arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm.

“He was taken into custody and processed at the Juvenile Bureau,” VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte said.

The case is under active investigation by the VIPD Juvenile Bureau.
