POLICE: St. Thomas’ Jermaine Godat Shot To Death In Estate Polyberg Today

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was shot to death today in Polyberg and left to die on the sidewalk.

Police said that Jermaine Godat was found dead about 2:41 p.m. today by the Major Crimes Unit of the Virgin Islands Police Department in Estate Polyberg.

When police arrived on on the scene “they observed an unresponsive young black male lying on his back on the sidewalk. Prior to the officer’s arrival on the scene EMT found no vital signs,” according to VIPD spokesman Glen Dratte.

Godat was transported to Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center morgue by the morgue attendant, Dratte said.

He was identified by next of kin.

The case is currently under active investigation by the Major Crimes Unit of the VIPD.
