Newly-Named Committee On Housing, Transportation, Infrastructure and Telecom Meets In St. Thomas Tuesday

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The newly-named Committee on Housing, Transportation, Infrastructure and Telecommunications will meet on St. Thomas Tuesday morning.

Senator Marvin A. Blyden, chairman of the committee, will conduct a hearing in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Chambers at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

“I have one of the most robust committees, especially with the myriad of housing and infrastructure issues affecting our islands,” Blyden said. “As the Territory continues to rebuild, it is vitally important that we receive information on the status of programs and projects that address critical needs for the people of our community.”

The committee will take testimony from government and non-profit agencies providing an update on housing issues in the territory.

Testifiers include Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Housing Authority, Robert Graham; Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority, Daryl Griffith; Board Chairman of Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands, Richard Bourne-Vanneck and Board Secretary of Methodist Training and Outreach Center, Inc., Delrease Roberts.

The public is invited to attend the hearing or watch it on television (Channel 26).

Blyden chaired the Committee on Housing, Public Works, Waste Management and Planning in the 32nd Legislature.

This committee he is chairing is the same committee under a different name for the 33rd Legislature.

The hearing can also be viewed online on the Legislature’s website or Facebook page.
