Governor Bryan Extends Condolences To Mapp On The Death Of His Mother

CHRISTIANSTED — Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. issued a condolence statement today on the death of Vashti Hewitt Mapp, mother of former Virgin Islands Governor Kenneth Mapp. She was 90.

“We are saddened by the passing of Mrs. Vashti Hewitt Mapp and extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolence to the entire Mapp and Hewitt Family circle,” Bryan said. “We celebrate Mrs. Hewitt Mapp as a matriarch and as an embodiment of strength and grace.

“We also celebrate her as the mother of a former governor of our islands and others in public service leadership roles. We ask the Virgin Islands community to join us in prayer for her family, friends and loved ones during this time.”

  1. I am also deeply saddened by the loss of Vashit Hewitt Mapp , however I am deeply perplexed that the great citizens of the United States Virgin Islands were paying for the former governor Kenneth Mapp’s mother care while he was in power…….
    Is that legal or did the former governor of the United States Virgin Islands violate the law???…….
