VIPD: ‘No Visible Signs Of Foul Play’ After Man Found Dead In Doorway Of Anna’s Retreat Residence Today

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Virgin Islands Police Department officers of the Major Crime Unit received notice of a dead body in a residential area of Anna’s Retreat on St. Thomas about 8 a.m. today, authorities said.

When police arrived on the scene they observed the body of “a white male face down on the floor in the doorway of the residence, in what appeared to be blood,” VIPD spokesman Karl Caesar said.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased male had a history of a medical ailment and there was no sign of forcible entry to the residence,” Caesar said. “The cause of death is pending until an autopsy is performed.”

The unnamed dead man was removed from the residence by the Medical Examiner’s Office personnel, according to the VIPD.

The identity of the white male is being withheld until notification of the next of kin has been effected.

This case is currently under investigation by the Major Crime Unit.
