Barren Spot Man Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Ray Thomas: VIPD

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man has been charged in the shooting death of a man in Sion Farm early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Malik Isles, 20, of Barren Spot was arrested about 6:23 p.m. Saturday and was charged with first-degree murder-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report about 2:38 a.m. Saturday of shots fired at a residence in Estate Sion Farm, according to the VIPD.

“Officers traveled to the location and found the body of an unresponsive male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The male individual, who died at the scene, was identified as 34-year-old Ray Thomas who was the resident at the location.”

“The VIPD would like to thank the public for its cooperation in the timely arrest in this case,” Derima said.

Thomas’ death was the first recorded murder of 2020 in the territory.
