CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Police Department said today that a St. Thomas man was arrested on rape charges Friday.
Adala Donastorg, 52 of Estate Bovoni Apartments was arrested about 7 p.m. Friday and charged with first-degree rape, according to the VIPD.
“Donastorg was positively identified as the suspect who sexually assaulted a female victim on March 7,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Donastorg was arrested by detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit.
Bail for Donastorg was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
The VIPD originally said Donastorg was arrested March 7. Then at 7:15 p.m. Saturday said in a correction that the arrest took place Friday March 20.
