St. Thomas Man Shot Near Smith Bay Convenience Store Saturday Night: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was shot near a Smith Bay convenience store in Frydendal late Saturday night, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Smith Bay, in the vicinity of the Lone Eagle Superette, in reference to a gunshot victim about 10:32 p.m. Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers encountered a male victim with gunshot wounds,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The victim was found unresponsive and was transported via ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital for treatment of his wounds.”

When he became responsive at the hospital, the victim was uncooperative and did not give officers details of the incident, Derima said.

This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
