St. Thomas Man Wanted For Armed Robbery Outside Sports Bar Charged: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man wanted for an armed robbery that took place outside a Crown Mountain sports bar earlier this month has been arrested by police, authorities said.

Dante Tonge, 24, of Contant Knolls was arrested about 2:50 a.m. Thursday based on a warrant issued by the Superior Court that charged him with first-degree robbery, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Tonge was identified as one of two men who robbed a victim at gunpoint outside La Delicia Sports Bar on Crown Mountain Road in Contant on March 6, VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Bail for Tonge was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

This incident is currently under active investigation.

According to police records, Tonge was charged with aiding and abetting grand larceny and related charges in April 2019.

Anyone having any information about this crime are asked to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 714-9801, or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1(800) 222-8477.
