4 Men Captured On Surveillance Video Stealing Engine Out of Boat In Subbase On Monday: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Four men tried to steal an engine out of a boat docked at a Subbase boat dealer on Monday morning, authorities said.

Police officers were dispatched to Offshore Marine, located in Charlotte Amalie West, after a report of an attempted grand larceny came in about 9:56 a.m. Monday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Employees of Offshore Marine told officers that a boat engine was missing from a boat in the boatyard, according to the VIPD.

“A review of the surveillance footage revealed that four males with their faces covered attempted to steal the engine from the boat, but were unsuccessful,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “The engine fell into the water and the suspected thieves departed without the engine.”
