DATE RAPE NEAR MIDNIGHT IN ST. THOMAS: Attempted Sexual Assault At Bovoni

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating allegations of an attempted rape near the Estate Bovoni Apartments about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“The female victim reported that while in a vehicle with a male friend, she declined his sexual advances,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “According to the victim, the suspect then attempted to force himself upon her and a scuffle ensued.”

The victim was then “assaulted” but was able to exit the vehicle before the suspect then left the area, according to Derima.

The victim sustained various injuries in the incident and was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital for treatment.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
