VIPD Investigating Shooting Death of 17-Year-Old Male At Good Hope Condominiums

FREDERIKSTED — Police are investigating a 17-year-old boy’s death of a single gunshot wound, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center notified police of a gunshot victim at Good Hope Villas condominiums in Estate Whim at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers traveled to the area and found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “He did not have any signs of life.”

An autopsy will determine the details of the incident, according to Derima.

The preliminary police investigation has not specifically ruled out suicide as the cause of death.

This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
