Woman Shot Twice Near Hospital Ground Late Tuesday Night: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating a shooting incident that left one St. Thomas woman injured on Tuesday night, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police to Hospital Ground, in the area of Goat Street, to check a call of shots fired about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Police encountered an individual who reported that three males all dressed in black with black stockings over their faces were in the roadway firing shots,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Other witnesses reported that the males ran though the parking lot of the Department of Human Services firing their handguns.”

A female victim at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital told police that as she was leaving the area, she heard shots being fired and ran, according to Derima.

The unidentified woman sustained two gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle for a treatment, police said.

This case is currently under active investigation.
