Altona Man Arrested For Marijuana Possession On Wednesday: VIPD

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man was arrested on marijuana possession charges related to being a drug dealer on Wednesday, authorities said.

Jahsief Benjamin, 18, of Estate Altona, was arrested about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers were conducting an inspection of Altona and Simmons Alley when they encountered Benjamin, who was in possession of the narcotic,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “He was placed under arrest as a result.”

Bail for Benjamin was set at $10,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

Police officers from the Special Operations Bureau (SOB) made the arrest of Benjamin.
