St. Croix Man Shot In Robbery Attempt In Mon Bijou On Saturday: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was shot during a robbery attempt in Estate Mon Bijou early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of an attempted robbery in Mon Bijou about 4:03 a.m. Saturday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

The adult male victim reported that he was outside his residence when a man dressed in all black approached him and demanded his jewelry, according to the VIPD.

“A struggle ensued between the victim and the suspect who pulled out a gun,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “One shot was discharged in the altercation, hitting the victim.”

The suspect fled the area, and the victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center by a relative for treatment, according to Derima.

The injury was not considered life-threatening, and the victim was listed in stable condition, he said.

This case is currently under active investigation.
