FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man who allegedly raped a woman after first offering her a ride home has been arrested by police, authorities said.

Francisco Tirado III, 29, of Frederiksted was arrested at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree assault, and first-degree unlawful sexual contact, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Tirado was identified as the individual who offered the victim a ride home but took her to a different location and forcibly sexually assaulted her on April 19,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
