Police Find Gun But No Shooter After Shots Fired On Sunday … Today An Arrest

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police found a weapon in a car near a St. Thomas housing project after shots were fired Sunday, but no shooter.

Today, that changed.

Hasani Parris, 22, of Hospital Ground was arrested at 9:45 a.m. today and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“On June 21, officers found a firearm in a vehicle operated by Parris in Paul M. Pearson Gardens after a report of shots fired in the area,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Bail for Parris was set at $25.000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

This case is currently under active investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this crime are urged to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211 extension 5579 or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-8477.
