St. Thomas Jailbird Arrested On Additional Theft-Related Charges Over The Weekend

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man currently sitting in jail for credit card fraud-related charges was re-arrested on additional theft charges this weekend, authorities said.

John Allen, 37, of Lerkenlund, is currently in the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections on a separate matter, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and grand larceny, the Virgin Islands Police Department.

“Allen was arrested regarding a burglary that occurred January 31 on Bjerge Gade, Charlotte Amalie,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Bail for Allen was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded back to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

Allen was originally arrested June 3 and charged with credit card fraud, possession of stolen property, and theft – obtaining credit through fraud, according to the VIPD.

Police put out a wanted poster on Allen on June 2, saying he was wanted for several larcenies throughout the island of St. Thomas, according to Derima.

He was apprehended on Norre Gade 11 days ago, police said.

VIPD detectives made the latest arrest of Allen, details of which were released to the public on Saturday.
