FREDERIKSTED –– A traffic stop near Annaly Farms led to the arrest of a West End man on gun and drug charges this week, authorities said.
Damon C. John, 48, of Estate Whim, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday and charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm openly or concealed and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“John was found with a firearm, marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Upper Love,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
John was pardoned for murder by former Governor Kenneth E. Mapp in December of 2018.
Bail for John was set at $50,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections (BOC) pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
