CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating whether it was a Subbase-area homeless man who snatched cash out of a woman’s purse at the KFC near Nisky Center on St. Thomas Monday morning, authorities said.

“The female victim reported that while in the restaurant, a Black male who is unknown to her approached her from behind, stuck his hand in her handbag and took money out of it,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

The suspect then fled the restaurant in an unknown direction, Derima said.
