Bethlehem Village Man, An Habitual Offender, Arrested On Illegal Ammunition Charge: VIPD

KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man who was charged with three counts of obtaining money under false pretenses four years ago was arrested on a illegal ammunition charge on Tuesday, authorities said.

Christopher A. Riley, Jr., 27, of Bethlehem Village, was arrested at 11:31 a.m. Tuesday and charged with possession of ammunition, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and officers of the Special Operations Bureau executed a search warrant on a residence in Estate Castle Coakley on May 29,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “During the execution of the search warrant, officers found a bag with several rounds of ammunition and documents that belong to Riley.”

Riley was arrested based on a warrant issued by the Superior Court, Derima said.

Bail for Riley was set at $15,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

On November 2, 2016, Riley was arrested and charged with three counts of obtaining money under false pretense, aggravated identity theft, obtaining credit card through fraudulent means, and receipt of money goods and services obtained by fraudulent use of credit card, police records indicate.

Riley allegedly made several transactions at Kmart, Urban Threads and an ATM withdrawal that the victim did not authorize, police said at the time.
