Governor Bryan Remembers Longtime CAHS Principal Ruth Thomas On St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Ruth E. Thomas, a former principal of Charlotte Amalie High School, who was known for being stern but fair, died after a lengthy illness on St. Thomas. She was 94.

Governor Albert Bryan issued the following statement remembering esteemed St. Thomas educator Ruth Thomas, who passed away Monday. 

“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my condolences to the family and friends of Ruth E. Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a celebrated educator who dedicated her life’s work to the education of Virgin Islands students and the improvement of her community. She without question, left an indelible mark on the lives of generations of young people in our community, and in her time with us engendered the values of a generation of Virgin Islanders who exemplified stewardship and service to their faith, family, and community.  

“Yolanda and I extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and all in our community who mourn her passing.”
