Mount Pleasant Man Arrested After Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A St. Croix man was arrested on domestic violence charges after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, authorities said.

Rhasanie Hendrickson, 18, of Mount Pleasant West, was arrested at 11:32 a.m. Friday and charged with aggravated assault & battery-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Hendrickson allegedly assaulted his pregnant significant other, causing visible injuries,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

The unnamed victim was transported by police to the Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment, Derima said.

Hendrickson was not offered bail, pursuant to the territory’s domestic violence statutes.

He was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

St. Croix District Chief of Police Sidney Elskoe reminds the community that there is no excuse for domestic violence.

“During disagreements, tempers may flare. However, resorting to violence against your significant other will get you arrested,” Chief Elskoe said, adding that he suggests taking a “time out” from the situation, allowing tempers to cool.

All individuals listed as arrested or charged with a crime in this report are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
