‘Reckless Endangerment’ Leads To Woman Being Shot In The Hand At Red Brick: VIPD

CHRISTIANSTED — Gunfire rang out at a Watergut-area housing project Friday night leaving one woman shot in the hand, authorities and eyewitnesses said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace in reference to reports of shots fired with a possible victim at 9:21 p.m. Friday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Officers traveled to the area and found community residents assisting an adult female who was apparently injured by a gunshot, according to the VIPD. The victim was transported to the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

“Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle, described as a Black Acura, leave the area after the shots were fired,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Officers and crime scene investigators examined the scene and collected evidence in furtherance of the investigation.”

The VIPD described Friday night’s violence at “Red Brick” as an incident of “reckless endangerment” in an official press release issued to the media at 10:12 a.m. today.
