KINGSHILL — A St. Croix man who was arrested two years ago for possession of an unlicensed gun was arrested this weekend on domestic violence-related charges, authorities said.
Omari S. Poree, 23, of Mon Bijou, was arrested at 8 p.m. Sunday and charged with third-degree assault-domestic Violence, home invasion and possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Poree is accused of entering the female victim’s home without permission and pointing a firearm at her, threatening to harm her, on December 4,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
Poree was not offered bail, as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes, Derima said.
He was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
Armed with a search warrant from the Superior Court, the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Poree in September 2018 for possession of an unlicensed firearm, police records said.
In the Spring of 2018, Poree was charged with reckless endangerment in connection to the discharging of a weapon, police records indicate.
