Police Investigating Decomposed Body Found Near Crown Bay Waterfront

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — Police are investigating the Tuesday afternoon discovery of the dead body of a man wearing all dark-colored clothing near the Crown Bay waterfront on St. Thomas, authorities said.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a decomposed body discovered near a business in Crown Bay at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Officers traveled to the area and observed the body of a male, dressed all in black, “who appeared to be decomposed,” according to the VIPD.

“The Major Crime Bureau responded to a call where the decomposed remains of an unidentified male was found near a west side St. Thomas business,” the VIPD said on Twitter. “The cause of death is unknown at this time pending an autopsy.”

Police urge anyone with information about this matter to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-8477, where you can get a reward.
