Police Investigate Fatal Shooting At Fish Market In Frederiksted Tonight: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man dead near the Fish Market in Frederiksted this evening.

Officers were dispatched to the scene on Fisher Street at 6:01 p.m., where they found a man on the ground with gunshot wounds. The man was identified as 25-year-old Jahmandi Simon.

“Officers traveled to the area and found an adult Black male on the ground with gunshot wounds,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Simon was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries, Derima said.

After Simon’s death, friends and family posted his image to social media as a tribute to their slain loved one.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to contact police by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-8477.

“Your information can be what is needed to bring those responsible to justice,” the VIPD said.
