Body Found Floating Near Christiansted Wharf In Christiansted Harbor: VIPD

CHRISTIANSTED — Police are investigating the discovery of a body found floating in the waters near the Christiansted Wharf last night.

The 911 Emergency Call Center got a call at 9:09 p.m. from a concerned citizen that a body was floating in the water along the Christiansted Wharf, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Officers traveled to the area and observed a motionless, older, Caucasian male in the water,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said. “Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene retrieved the victim from the water and determined he had expired.”

Officers found no apparent signs of foul play, according to Derima.

“The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin,” he said.

Detectives are reaching out to the community asking for information on what happened.
