Golden Rock Man Accused of Assaulting Woman And Destroying Her Possessions

CHRISTIANSTED — A Golden Rock man who allegedly assaulted a woman and destroyed some of her property was arrested on domestic violence-related charges early this morning, authorities said.

Elijah Smith, 27, of Harbor View Apartments, was arrested at 5:36 a.m. today and charged with first-degree burglary, simple assault and battery, possession of a dangerous weapon and destruction to property, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Smith was arrested for an incident that occurred on January 11, in Estate Golden Rock.

Bail for Smith was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.

Meanwhile, Smith faced harsh criticisms on social media today.

“Woman alone St. Croix fellas beating?” Cuthbert Desir said from Saint Lucia.
