St. Croix Homeless Man Arrested On Rape Charges After Brutal Sexual Assault, Beating Of Woman: VIPD

FREDERIKSTED — A homeless man has been arrested by police on rape charges after brutally beating and raping a woman on St. Croix, authorities said.

Nicholas Greaves, 26, of no fixed address, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday and charged with first-degree rape, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

“Greaves allegedly physically assaulted, then forcibly raped, a female victim,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

Derima was asked if the female who was raped was an adult or minor individual.

“Unfortunately, I was not given that information.,” he said.

Greaves was arrested by police after a Superior Court bench warrant was issued in his name, according to the VIPD.

Bail for Greaves was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
