CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man told police he had just driven outside the gate to his Company Quarter residence when a white car with a gunman inside appeared and shot him multiple times early this morning, authorities said.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received a call of shots fired and a man down at a residence on Little Princess about 5 a.m. today, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.
“Officers traveled to the area and found a 35-year-old Black male in a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.
The victim reported to police that as he traveled from his residence headed to work, he heard gunfire and realized he had been injured, according to Derima.
“He stated that he observed a white vehicle leaving the area, but did not know who shot him,” the spokesman said.
The victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
