Governor Bryan Holds Sit Down Meeting With Royal Caribbean Over Cruise Visits

CHRISTIANSTED — Governor Albert Bryan held a sit-down meeting with a top executive at Royal Caribbean to ensure that once the CDC relaxes restrictions on the cruise line industry, the territory will be foremost in the company’s mind when it comes to destinations.

Governor Bryan met said he met with the Director of Business Development for Royal Caribbean Cruise lines Jayne Holcomb “to brainstorm ways to improve the overall guest experience in the U.S. Virgin Islands and increase cruise travel to St. Croix,” Government House said on Facebook.

The chief executive said that the government “continues to make progress toward developing the towns of Frederiksted, Christiansted, Charlotte Amalie, and Cruz Bay and toward the expansion of the territory’s tourism offerings.”

The Miami-based corporation was in the news today as The Motley Fool reported that Royal Caribbean has $5.1 billion in cash on hand to continue riding out the coronavirus storm that ended cruising about one year ago.

Royal Caribbean will be homeporting in the Bahamas and Bermuda with cruises for fully-vaccinated people starting next month.

Royal Caribbean Group fully owns three cruise lines: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea Cruises.
