Man Awaiting Trial For Armed Robbery Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — A St. Thomas man who is awaiting trial for an armed jewelry store robbery has been arrested on domestic violence-related charges, authorities said.

Shemelle Isaac, 29, of Hospital Ground was arrested at 12:25 p.m. Sunday and charged with simple assault-domestic violence and damage to property-domestic violence, the Virgin Islands Police Department said today.

“Isaac allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend during an argument,” VIPD spokesman Toby Derima said.

He was also arrested in December 2020 and charged in the Gems and Gold Corner Jewelry store armed robbery, court records indicate.

Isaac was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections without bail as per the territory’s domestic violence laws.

Detectives from the VIPD Domestic Violence Unit arrested Isaac at his residence in H.H. Berg Home and Additions.
