Robbery Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder

FREDERIKSTED — A suspect in a robbery has been charged with attempted murder in connection to an incident that took place 16 months ago, authorities said today.

Zahkeed Bright, 29, was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, first-degree robbery, using a dangerous weapon during a
crime of violence, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

A police investigation revealed that Bright was a suspect in a robbery that occurred on October 23, 2021, according to the VIPD.

Learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest, Bright surrendered to police without incident on Thursday.

Bail for Bright was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was processed and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending an advice-of-rights hearing.
