Cops Slap Cuffs On Couple Involved In Disturbance At Chocolate Hole In St. John

CRUZ BAY — A husband’s questions for his wife in the wee hours of the morning led to an argument which led to a physical fight involving a weapon in St. John on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The Leander Jurgen Command officers were dispatched to Chocolate Hole in reference to a domestic disturbance at 2:42 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Police met with a husband and wife who said that at about 1:00 a.m., the wife arrived home and was questioned by the husband as to why she was out late, according to the VIPD.

“The husband and wife stated that a verbal altercation ensued which later escalated into a physical altercation involving a weapon causing injuries,” VIPD spokeswoman Kishma Chichester said.

Due to conflicting statements, each person was arrested based on the domestic violence statute of the Virgin Islands, according to Chichester.

Santa Nunez, 47, and Ramon Degracia, 46, were each charged with third-degree assault-domestic violence and simple assault-domestic violence, police said.

Nunez and Degracia were each remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending their advice-of-rights hearings.

This case is currently under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
