USVI Takes On High-flying Grenada In Women’s Gold Cup Qualifier Action

ST. GEORGE’S — The road to the Women’s Gold Cup continues tomorrow with a Group C encounter between Grenada and the USVI at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in Grenada.

Grenada enjoyed a prolific and successful September window by posting a pair of victories against Bahamas to rise to the top of the group.

Grenada emerged with a 6-1 victory in Bahamas, followed by a 4-1 win at home. Nia Thompson was the star of both shows, with a brace in the first match followed by a hat trick in the second.

Thompson has gotten help from teammates, too. Melania Fullerton scored a goal and contributed two assists, while Roneisha Frank had a goal and an assist.

USVI did not play in the September window, so the Lady Eagles will be out to show that they belong in the mix for first-place in the group with a strong performance away from home.
