What is the VIPA Airports P3 Project?

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) is launching a transformative Public-Private Partnership (P3) to modernize and enhance the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (HERA) on St. Croix and the Cyril E. King Airport (CEKA) on St. Thomas.

This ambitious project aims to redevelop both airports, incorporating state-of-the-art amenities, private investment dollars, and efficient operations, along with comprehensive long-term maintenance plans.

The modernization of HERA and CEKA will not only stimulate economic growth in the territory but also provide travelers with a safe, comfortable, and pleasant experience. This initiative responds to the evolving demands of air travel, ensuring that our airports meet the needs of current and future travelers.

Key improvements will include upgraded baggage systems, new jet bridges, renovated and expanded terminal buildings, along with additional seating and concession areas. These enhancements will streamline airport operations, improve efficiency, and elevate passenger comfort, ultimately making air travel more enjoyable and convenient.

VIPA is excited to embark on these modernization projects, which are set to significantly improve and expand our airport facilities, bringing long-term benefits to the territory and its visitors.
