ROAD TOWN, Tortola — A Royal Navy Batch 2 River-class OPV arrived in the British Virgin Islands to assist with recovery measures following Tropical Storm Ernesto.
HMS Trent was deployed to the BVI on Friday to help repair the damage caused by the storm.
The vessel and her crew were welcomed by BVI Governor Daniel Pruce who also praised their efforts.
A message on the ship’s official social media accounts read: “We’re in the British Virgin Islands after Tropical Storm Ernesto.
“Our sailors, Royal Marines and 24 Commando Royal Engineers Crisis Response Troop have come together to assist with the recovery.”
Pictures were shared online of the crew clearing affected areas and working with Mr Pruce who said how grateful he was for their assistance.
In July this year, HMS Trent assisted the Cayman Islands after Hurricane Beryl devastated many parts of the Caribbean.
