2 suspects arrested for October murder of 19-year-old man

FREDERIKSTED — Two suspects in a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead in October have been apprehended, authorities said.

Carlos Ayala, 19, and Casey Rivera, 35, have been arrested for the killing of Errol St. Jean at Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion on October 25, 2024, the Virgin Islands Police Department said.

Ayala and Rivera are each charged with first-degree murder, according to the VIPD.

Ayala and Rivera surrendered without incident to detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau on Friday.

Bail for each man was set at $1,000,000.00. Unable to post bail, they were transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections at the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility.

The two suspects are scheduled for an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court on Monday.
